European Literature E3EL and E4EL

This course is open to sophomores enrolled in AP European History (H3XG/H4XG) and other interested 10th graders. Students enrolled in E3EL in the fall will be programmed automatically for E4EL in the spring. Reading assignments will include a variety of genres from several different historical periods, which may include Classical, Enlightenment, Romantic, Modern, and Contemporary.

Texts: Required texts for European Literature will likely include epic poems, dramas, novels, short stories, and poetry. Texts studied in the 2005-06 school year included:

Assignments: Writing assignments will follow a variety of formats and will often include both creative and analytical elements.

Format: The class is largely discussion-based. Emphasis will be placed on student-generated discussion topics, conversations about literature, and a wide-variety of written, spoken, an artistic responses to the works read.
