The Stuyvesant High School Online Course Guide

Sophomore Expository Writing Seminar E3WS and E4WS

The Expository Writing Seminar is a class designed to focus intensively on writing. Unlike the other sophomore English classes, which are organized around literary canons, the one overarching goal of the Expository Writing Seminar is to help students write more lucidly and effectively. The course syllabus will include some major works of Classical and European literature, but will also rely heavily on nonfiction works as primary texts and models. Assignments will include critical and creative responses to both classical and contemporary texts. Class size will be capped at twenty-five so that teachers will have the opportunity to give each student more individualized instruction.
