Forensics, an Introduction to Speech - ECFS

This course is open to sophomores and juniors who are interested in exploring the concepts of debate and research, concepts of oral interpretation and oratorical speaking, critical analysis of oral communication, and written analysis of speaking. Excellent attendance, the desire to conduct research and to review literature and speeches for material to present will be expected of all students. Students will present debates, conduct research, write critical analyses, explore the interview process, and make speeches. Completion requirements include daily debate flows and critiques demonstrating critical ability, journals, debates, memorized 10-minute speeches, non-memorized 10-minute speeches, and 8-10 written assignments. Extra time after school may be needed for library trips and meetings with partners in debate. Having research ability, demonstrated writing proficiency, teacher approval, and an ability to work independently are pre/co-requisites.

This course is NOT an English selective. It cannot replace a "regular" English class.
