Advanced French Conversation and French Literature FF7C and FF8L

Who should take this course?
This course has been designed for students to develop greater facility in the target language.

What will we be studying? How is the course taught?
During the first term, the emphasis will be on speaking skills by initiating and participating in conversations on everyday topics. Students will be asked to improvise, make oral presentations, paraphrase and/or summarize reading passages, discuss matierals read in class and participate in discussions based on oral presentations. The second term's emphasis will be developing skills in literary analysis. The text will be supplemented with newspapers, magazine articles, films, music and, when possible, visits to special events such as art exhibits, theater performances, and lectures.

What are the completion requirements?
Students must participate in class activities, do homework, take examinations, and in the second term, all of these and writing essays.

Are there any special demands, costs, etc?
Students may be required to attend cultural events.

Details and pre/co-requisites:
Three years of French or the equivalent. By enrolling in FF7C in the fall, you will automatically be programmed for FF8L in the spring.
