Japanese 7 and 8 - FJ7X and FJ8X

Who should take this course?
This course is intended for students who have completed 3 years of Japanese and who want to continue with their studies of Japanese language, history and culture. Students will be prepared with the necessary skills and literary background for the Advanced Placement Chinese Language Exam in May.

What will we be studying?
Students will be reading and writing simple stories, developing conversational skills, and writing haiku and "kamishibai" (story boards) in Japanese.

What will be expected of me? How is the course taught?
Students will be expected to increase their skills in reading and expressing themselves in Japanese and to participate in class discussions. They may be asked to attend cultural events and to participate in Japan Bowl, a day-long national academic language competition held in Washington, D.C.

What are the completion requirements?
Students must participate in class activities, do homework, take examinations.

Are there any special demands, costs, etc?
Students may be required to attend cultural events. There is a fee for the Advanced Placement Exam in May.

Details and pre/co-requisites:
Level III Japanese or native speaker approved by teacher and Department Chairperson.
