Korean 5 and 6 for Language Heritage Learners FK5N and FK6N

Who should take this course?
This course is designed for students of Korean heritage who wish to continue to improve their Korean language skills.

What will we be studying? How is the course taught?
In addition to the textbooks selected for this course, various materials produced in Korean (poems, short stories, essays, newspaper articles, CD-ROM titles, and videotapes) will be used. Students will improve not only their linguistic ability, but also their awareness of the culture by learning history, customs, social rituals, and current news of Korea. Korean websites and multimedia materials will also be integrated as part of the course's instruction.

What will be expected of me?
Students will be expected to participate in class and do the required work.

What are the completion requirements?
Students must participate in class activities, do homework, and take all examinations.

Details and pre/co-requisites:
FK3/4N or teacher and Department Chairperson approval. Students may take Korean as an elective course only; a three-year sequence in a different second language must be taken to fulfill the language requirements.
