Who should take this
course?
All interested seniors or juniors
with room in their programs. Computer experience is not necessary.
The highly skilled will be welcomed too!
What will we be studying?
Producing good art on computers. The
various areas of the computer graphics field will be viewed,
discussed, and practiced. Hands on projects experience using Mac's
with various graphics programs will dominate. Students will also be
kept abreast of new developments in the field-such as design issues
on Internet, Interactive Media, etc.
What will be expected of
me?
We will be doing various hands on
design projects, learning basic design concepts, and applying them,
using programs such as Aldus Superpaint, Quark Express, Adobe
Photoshop, and others. We will visit other high tech computer
sites, have invited speakers, and see films and other examples of
computer graphic design.
How is the course taught?
There will be small lab projects
that will enable students to learn the capabilities of various
programs and then apply them to specific design issues, as well as
discussions of current design issues and events.
What are the completion
requirements?
There will be individualized final
projects. These projects will be done in class. A portfolio of
current events articles will be compiled by students, and there may
be some required trips to shows or demonstrations.
Are there any special demands,
costs, etc.?
There may be some small amount of
money necessary for purchase of computer disks or for enlarging
printouts. This will be kept to a minimum - approximately
$10.00-$20.00
Details and
pre/co-requisites:
There are no pre-requisites. All
skill levels, art-wise and computer-wise are welcome. We will be
using Macs, color scanning and color laser printing for the project.
This course can fulfill the senior elective requirement.
