ALSA
Who should take this course?
This class is open to juniors and seniors, who have successfully completed Art Apprciation (A1) and who are interested in studying and creating art beyond the high school level.
What will we be studying? What will be expected of me?
This is a studio class and all work is to be done in class. Students will interact in a group dynamic and will learn about management of materials, work place, time frames and even the language to be used. Students will start with basic drawing skills and foundation concepts of the visual arts. Students will develop skills in drawing, painting, building 3-dimensional sculptures and designing. Students will consider historical precedents in solving problems. Students will create a portfolio. Students will be graded based on the level of effort shown and work completed.
Are there any special demands, costs, etc?
Materials must be purchased. It is expected the cost will be minimal. Since artists must learn to use the most economical materials and methods to produce work, materials may come from things no longer useful to others, but a source of inspiration to them.
