Who should take this course?

Students who have successfully completed Art Apprciation (A1) and are interested in exploring the dynamic nature and spirit of the watercolor medium should take this course.

What will we be studying?

This is a "hands-on" studio class designed to introduce students to color experiences in a water based painting medium. Students will learn how to use basic materials, explore watercolor techniques, develop drawing and composition skills, and acquire an understanding of color through practical exercises and class projects.

What will be expected of me?

Students will develop their creativity through class and individual projects. Each student will produce work that will show effort and progress and which will reflect their individual artistic abilities. Personal style and individual expression will be greatly encouraged.

How is the course taught?

This is a hands-on experiential class. Through demonstrations and presentations of slides and photographs, students will learn concepts and techniques. Class sessions will focus on students working on a series of exercises and class and individual projects.

What are the completion requirements?

The student will complete painting projects in class while keeping pace with the class, will demonstrate effort in doing all work and being prepared for class, have good attendance and punctuality.

Are there any special demands, costs, etc?

Modest materials cost.

Details and pre/co-requisites:

A1 (Art Appreciation). This course can be taken to fulfill the senior elective requirement.
