Molecular Biology of Nucleic Acids SBMB (Lab Work Included)

 

This course will include selected topics in modern biomedical andmolecular science. Topics will include molecular and physiological analysis of HIV disease (AIDS) and oncogenesis (cancer). Recombinant DNA techniques, taught in our new Molecular Biology lab facility, will play anessential role in the discussion of the molecular basis of disease and gene therapy. The final grade will be based on several take-home examinationsand laboratory work This course is designed for students entering the INTEL competition, as an introduction to AP Biology or for students who want an advanced biology course without an AP exam. Suggested follow-up courses are Human Genetics(SB11) or Biochemistry of Proteins(SBBC). This course is open only to Juniors or Seniors.
