Who should take this
course?
Enrollment is limited to students
who have completed SC5POC and wish to further their understanding of
Organic Chemistry.
What will we be studying?
The second term of Organic Chemistry
continues with the to the study of carbon compounds. The second
semester will focus on aromaticity, electrophilic and nucleophilic
reactions and mechanisms. Additional topics will include the study of
functional groups, and spectrophotometry.
What will be expected of
me?
You will be expected to do moderate
amounts of homework and to participate in class
discussions.
How is the course taught?
The course will be taught by a
method combining recitation, demonstrations and class discussions of
outside reading. Currently, there is no lab component to this
course.
What are the completion
requirements?
The grade in the course will be
determined based on class participation, and the grades on class
examinations and quizzes. There will be either a final exam or a
final project.
Are there any special demands,
costs, etc?
There may be some moderate costs
associated with this course.
Details and
pre/co-requisites:
Organic Chemistry, SC5POC is a
prerequisite. This course will be offered only during the spring
term.
