The Stuyvesant High School Online Course Guide |
This one-term elective science course is designed to expose students to several analytical instruments, common instrumental techniques, and a practical application of each technique, along with some applications of computerized instrumentation and data collection in the laboratory.
This course will cover the recommended laboratory program for Advanced Placement Chemistry and will develop the student's ability to think analytically, understand problems expressed as experimental questions, design and carry out experiments, manipulate data, make conclusions and evaluate them, and communicate accurately and meaningfully about observations and conclusions.
The laboratory will operate on a semi-open laboratory policy, that is, laboratory work is possible at times other than and including the officially scheduled laboratory period.
This class is open to juniors and seniors and has a pre-requisite of SC2 or SCCM and Sequential Math III (MQ6).
