The Stuyvesant High School Online Course Guide |
This is a one-year course designed to provide a general understanding of the fundamental principles of Physics and, at the same time, to achieve a deeper understanding of some these principles. The basic syllabus includes five core units: Mechanics, Energy, Electricity and Magnestism, Wave Phenomena and Modern Physics. Optional topics include: Motion in a plane, Internal Energy, Geometric Optics and Nuclear Energy. Topics for the SAT II, such as Angular Momentum and Capacitance, are also included.
The course meets 7 1/2 periods per week and has required double period laboratories throughout the year.
Students must take the Regents Examination in June. It is strongly recommended that students also take the SAT II in early June
There are no pre- or co-requisites for this course.
