Senior Research- Intel MM6R5 and MM7R5

Who should take this course?
Students interested in submitting papers to the Intel Science Talent Search. This course is limited to seniors in the fall term (MM7R5), and juniors in the spring term (MM6R5).

What will we be studying?
How to write a research paper in mathematics, the physical sciences, and the social sciences.

What will be expected of me?
You will be expected to submit a research paper and completed application to the Intel Science Talent Search.

How is the course taught?
1. Presentation of topics by teacher, experts in a variety of fields, and students
2. Instruction in use of computers to access information, in word processing, and in statistical analysis and graphing
3. Instruction in completing WSTS data blank
 

Are there any special demands, costs, etc.?
$20 lab fee for text, discs, unlimited copies of research related materials

Details and pre/co-requisites:
This course fulfills your 10 period technology lab requirement, once the research paper has been accepted. A 90% average in mathematics is required.

There is a $10 lab and materials fee for the research classes. This will cover all expenses for contests, mailings, etc. Students who demonstrate a financial need can obtain a waiver by speaking with the Assistant Principal, Department of Mathematics.
