Technology represents the "real world" application of science and mathematics. Technology advances with new discoveries in science, which in turn enhances the ability of scientists to conduct experiments and engineers to produce new technology for consumers and industry. Technology Education is the study of the connections which create the interdependence of these disciplines, along with their relationship to human society and our environment. In this technological age, Technology Education provides the knowledge and skills needed to understand and effectively meet the challenges we will face in the future. Our courses at Stuyvesant High School offer hands on experiences with "state of the art" technology associated with computers, robotics, communications and engineering as well as traditional materials and processes. After taking required courses in basic technical graphic communication (mechanical drawing and CAD), students choose from among the following courses to meet their Technology Education requirements. Students who have fulfilled their requirements may take additional courses if class size permits. Students may take a second five period technology lab as an unprepared elective. Students may take a second ten period technology lab as a prepared, senior elective. |
