Who should take this course?

Students who are interested in learning about methods of reproducing art work, printed copies and commercial art and design. This course will satisfy the five period technology requirement and can also be taken as an elective.

What will we be studying?

Topics covered will include basic Art Reproduction Methods, such as Silkscreen Printing, Dry Point Etching and Linoleum Cuts. An introduction is given in desktop publishing for the production of documents and newsletters. Students will learn basic black and white photography, including darkroom work. High speed production work will be covered with the use of the offset press.

What will be expected of me?

  1. 1. To participate in class lessons.
  2. 2. To learn the basic printing processes and desktop publishing.
  3. 3. To satisfactorily complete the assigned projects.

How is the course taught?

  1. 1. Lecture and presentations.
  2. 2. Student participation in project work.

What are the completion requirements?

  1. 1. Satisfactory completion of a number of class projects.
  2. 2. Notebook and daily journal and/or portfolio.
  3. 3. Tests and final exam.

Are there any special demands, costs, etc?

Materials replacement fee.

There are no pre/co-requisites. This course can also be taken as an unprepared elective.
