Who should take this
course?
Students who are interested in
creating "wearable art," through design and scientific application.
This course will NOT satisfy the five (5) period Technology requirement.
What will we be studying?
We will be studying areas which will
enable you to create well designed and executed jewelry objects. You
will learn fundamental jewelry processes necessary to create these
objects, as well as the tools, equipment, and materials which are
employed in their completion. This will entail the design and
fabrication of metals, woods or plastics through sawing, drilling,
shaping, soldering, enameling, engraving, casting, etc.
What will be expected of
me?
To participate in class lessons.
To design and execute assigned as well as original pieces of
jewelry.
How is the course taught?
Lecture and demonstrations.
Student participation in project work.
What are the completion
requirements?
Satisfactory completion of a number
of class projects.
Notebook and daily journal.
Portfolio of completed projects on slide film or PolaroidTM
prints.
Outside reading articles.
Tests and final exam.
Are there any special demands,
costs, etc?
Materials replacement
fee.

pre/co-requisites:
This course does not satisfy the 5
period Technololgy requirement. This course is offered during both the fall and spring
semesters. This course is open to sophomores, juniors, and seniors.
