Who should take this course?
Students who would like to become "picture creators" not just picture takers. Students who want to learn the technical aspects of camera use and color processing procedures.

What will we be studying?
We will be studying elements of photographic composition, color and photo density. We will study the effects of light and photo chemistry on film and print making. We will learn how to operate the camera and darkroom equipment, including the enlarger and film and paper processors.

What will be expected of me?
Students will be expected to take photographs outside of class time. Students are expected to maintain film logs (with picture taking information) for purposes of discussing slides. Students are expected to critique images with the emphasis on photo analysis and scene improvement. Students will prepare slide presentations.

How is the course taught?
Material in the course is presented by teacher led instruction, video tape presentation and slide show presentation. Students work individually, as well as in groups, on select photo assignments.

What are the completion requirements?
Students must submit a portfolio of the term's work. This portfolio will include slides of individual scenes as well as shots from student slide presentations. Students must also submit a notebook and journal of the experiences in class. Satisfactory rating on class exams.

Are there any special demands, costs, etc?
You need access to a 35mm film format camera . You will need to purchase 6-10 rolls of color slide film.
