Who should take this course?

Any senior with an interest in photography. This course will fulfill the 10 period Technology requirement or may serve as a senior elective.

What will we be studying?

  1. How to: use a camera (camera techniques); develop black and white film; develop color negative film and color positive film; to operate a color mini-lab.
  2. Various darkroom techniques.
  3. Commercial photography (product photography, portraiture, etc.)

What will be expected of me?

To complete required assignments such as taking specific pictures and making contact sheets and projection prints.

How is the course taught?

The class is taught through a combination of lectures, student participation, audio-visual presentations and student completion of projects.

What are the completion requirements?

Student portfolio of required photos. Student notebook. Student journal. Satisfactory rating on class exams, midterm exam and final exam

Are there any special demands, costs, etc?

You will be required to take pictures indoors and outdoors and will need a 35 mm SLR camera, film and photographic paper. There will be a materials replacement fee.
