Preliminary Programming - Phase I :

Advanced Placement, Courses Requiring Departmental Approval,

Please click on this link for a listing of Advanced Placement Classes and Elective Courses Requiring Departmental Approval

Please consult Stuyvesant High School's Policy on Advanced Placement Classes before applying for Advanced Placement Classes.

Acceptance is dependent upon your meeting the established criteria.

Application will be on-line.

Since notification of ALL acceptances will be via email to your Stuyvesant email account, you may wish to enable mail forwarding if you use an account other than your Stuy account. (http://www.stuy.edu/mailforwarding)

Taking an A.P. course is a significant obligation. Think hard about it first before assuming this commitment!

Applications of students which do not meet the established departmental criteria are rejected. Students may appeal this departmental decision by speaking with the appropriate Department Chairperson.

Students have the opportunity (and obligation) to decline seats in these specially selected classes should they no longer wish to take a particular course. Students will be notified of the dates for declination of placement in special classes during the programming process.

The School recommends strongly that no student take more than three Advanced Placement Courses in one term.

Students who insist on taking more Advanced Placement courses than school policy sanctions can do so only with the written consent of their parent/guardian and will not be permitted to drop any of these courses.

Students must complete courses for which they apply and to which they have been accepted.
