After program corrections have been processed, it is sometimes necessary to "equalize" classes. Class size may not exceed 34 in most cases. Technology classes are capped at 28 and Physical Education classes are capped at 50. Class size restrictions are based on contractual agreements and student safety.
On occasion, it may be necessary to change a
student's schedule in order to keep a given class within the
designated "cap". When equalization is necessary, the guiding
principle is to select the student who can be "equalized"
with the fewest number of changes to his/her
schedule. Every effort is made to complete the equalization
within the first two weeks of the term.
